Dr.
Salvatore Palumbo engages a high volume Neurosurgical practice
which includes a wide array of cranial surgery for treatment
of complex brain tumors as well as advanced expertise in
spinal surgery and spinal reconstruction for both degenerative
and traumatic spinal disorders. His surgical spectrum includes
minimally invasive microdiscectomies to multi-level instrumented
spinal re-stabilization procedures. He continues to maintain
a research involvement in the field of cranio –spinal
trauma and is a participant in a multi-center study.
Dr Palumbo
received his medical degree from Temple University School
of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed his Neurosurgery
residency at the University of Rochester - Strong Memorial
Hospital. There he undertook advanced training in complex
spinal instrumentation. Currently, Dr. Palumbo serves
as Director of the Spine Center at Southside Hospital – North
Shore/LIJ Hospital System as well as Good Samaritan Hospital,
West Islip. (CHS)
Dr. Palumbo serves as a diplomat of the American Board of
Neurological Surgeons and is a member of the Congress of Neurological
Surgeons. He has been appointed Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons. Other memberships include the North American
Spine Society, New York State/County Medical Societies.
